Music City Swing (formerly known as the Capitol Swing Big Band) is Nashville’s finest example of what a big band can be, proving that music from any era can swing. This 21-piece band plays music from the 40s through today in its own hard-swinging, big-sounding way. Founded by, led by and fed by the energy of Karl Wingruber in 2003 (and renamed Music City Swing in 2007), and featuring an outstanding vocal quartet out front. Having played Christmas parties, summer music festivals, theater openings and veteran functions, this traditional large-style big band brings its sound to venues all across middle Tennessee. Just close your eyes and listen to the band as they play “Chattanooga Choo-Choo” or “Moonlight Serenade” and you could swear you were “back there”, listening to your favorite band at the Glen Island Casino or the Paramount Theater. In fact, the Mayor of Hohenwald, TN stated that “ I thought you could only hear that kind of music on XM radio.

Music City Swing features some of the best instrumental talent in Nashville, both upcoming and established, to ensure that swing will continue from one generation to the next!
